Mar 30, 2022 | Blogging Guide

Once we started using WordPress, we got the first question after setting up a blog, how to add a new post or pages on WordPress? This is usually a normal question that comes into anyone’s mind.

For this, I am going to guide you to help you out with this query on how to post a new post and all the relevant question that comes while posting the first blog post or adding a blog post.

There are two types of post-editors in WordPress one is a Classic editor and another is a Block editor (AKA, Gutenberg Project).

Classic editor is similar to the normal editor or a word editor type that you got familiar with if you use Microsoft word or google docs. You will get two options in the classic editor a visual text editing feature and a normal HTML code editor.

While block editor has a drag and drops feature so you can add and edit content. Now you got that in the new Gutenberg project there are plenty of options to add to your block editor as you can see in the screenshot.

I recommend you to use the new editor as the new editor has multiple features. You can set your default editor to block editor. It appears every time you want to write or create a new post or page.

How you can start your first post on WordPress in 2022.

First, you need to login into your WordPress dashboard, then you can click on the post and then click on add new (Dashboard -> Posts -> Add New)

And if you want to create a page then click on pages and then add new. Keep in mind that page and post both are different things in WordPress.

Posts are elements of the information listed in chronological sequence on a blog page. They’re frequently in the form of articles, post formate on a regular basis.

While, Pages are created for stuff that is static and never changes, such as a home page or a contact page. You can change pages every now and again, but they mostly stay the same.

How to add titles and content to WordPress posts or pages?

As you click on the new post you got a screen showing the title and content area automatically.

There you can write your title and in the paragraph or content area, you can add it by using the (+) Plus sign on the body of the content page.

Once you click on the plush icon you get the left panel of block option with your post entry screen. You only need to click the block which you need for your post body and add it to your post.

By default, you get the title and paragraph block.

When you will be familiar with these blocks you can start using them like this. By adding multiple different blocks you can start creating a blog post where a title, written text, images, and video can be incorporated.

A WordPress text editor advance feature is if you write your blog content in Microsoft word or google docs. It can be directly pasted all hereby just copying and pasting options through your keyboard or mouse.

It can easily arrange your written content likewise. If some of the blocks will not be as per your requirement. You can simply delete that or add a different block that you need at that place.

After completing your written post you can just save it as a draft or schedule your post. If you think it’s done then you can click on the publish button it will be published.

Note: Before publishing the post. You can make your “slug” SEO friendly or you can leave it as it is if you think it’s fine.

I think this blog post will really help you to start your first blog post. It will guide you to the new feature and how you can leverage the WordPress editor for your blog post or page.
